Dan is the son of Go Hibiki, killed by Sagat after he gouged out his eye.
So Dan start to became a fighter for revenge his father, and developed his own fighting style after he's was expelled from Gouken's dojo.
Dan is a parody of the SNK's characters. He have the body of Ryo Sakazaki and the head of Robert Garcia, characters from the series of Art of Fighting and King of Fighters.
The first appearance was during the promotion of Street Fighter II Champion Edition, depicted in an artwork where Sagat holding the head of a defeated opponent. That character was the basis to the creation of Dan Hibiki, introduced as secret character in Street Fighter Alpha.
He is rapresented like an arrogant, but is also the best comical, and funniest, character of street fighter series.
